My saturday night was phenomenal - we went to the Knitting Factory to see Desmond Dekker. A 60+ Jamaican still rocking leather pants and a microphone, really fun rasta guys in front of us sweetly confused about why we didn't want to smoke pot with them, a whole crowd of our friends, and lots of dancing. What more could a girl ask for? I was a wee bit sad to find out that my good friend Bruno happened to be watching a show just downstairs from the room Dekker played - a friend of his and her lonely guitar, or something. I happened to call him after we left the KF to see if he wanted to get a drink in one of the few good bars left around Tribeca, and he informed me that he'd just left the KF as well. Pity we didn't see each other - it's been too long. But hopefully we'll see each other this saturday at a mutual friends' party.

My week, though it's really only been two days, has been incredibly hectic; end of the semester and all that. So since I'm tired, about to go help my husband with the Chicken Francese dinner he generously offered to make for us tonight, and am in the mood anyway, it's list time.

These last few week's badies:

1. Bill Frist
2. Tom Delay
3. Mid-Academic year department director changes
4. Pharmacists in CHICAGO refusing to fill women's prescriptions for birth control pills BECAUSE THEY'RE NUTS
5. Saturn auto mechanics trying to pull a fast one on me
6. Andrea Dworkin passing away
7. Entitled students
8. Co-workers with borderline personality disorder
9. Gay couple eliminated from Amazing Race
10. Annoying Survivor left-over couple still on Amazing Race
11. TV rots your brain

This week's goodies:

1. Putting Saturn auto mechanics in their places
2. Peru's Picaflores Research Center's email
3. Organizing a loverly gift with the siblings for our mother (shh, it's a surprise)
4. The new Beck CD
5. The new NIN CD
6. The new Weezer CD
7. Tickets to see David Byrne in June
8. ISO May Day party planning
9. Husband cleaning the entire apartment, making diner, buying favorite wine
10. Green olives stuffed with almonds
11. Desmond Dekker
12. Long chats with Diane and Nicole after Desmond Dekker show
13. New(ish) Tori Amos CD majorly growing on me
14. Students demonstrating amazing comprehension in analyzing Apocalypse Now
15. New episodes of Globe Trekker airing tonight

It's nice when the goodies outweigh the badies. Steven's home - my turn to get the wine.
