2004-07-29 12:39 p.m. HI FROM BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN JOHANNESBURG! No postcards say that. I've never seen a city so secure, every home having high walls and electrified fences, not to mention scores of armed guards. We've been walking around the suburbs in daytime, which we've been told is perfectly safe. Tomorrow we may go to the Apartied Museum, because I'm infinitely curious about the life and history of Mandela's struggle. Beautiful people, tons of travelers, amazing music, and a weired thrid/developed world juxtaposition so far. We leave for safari Saturday. xoxox, T |
